How to play baseball
Every pitch leaves the mound with its own speed and movement. When the ball is coming toward the plate, tap the screen, click or press Space to swing. If you hold off, the ball passes and the umpire calls a strike or a ball, depending on whether it crossed the strike zone.
You get 3 strikes per batter: a swing and miss or a pitch in the zone you let go by counts as a strike. A foul also counts, but only up to the second strike. Pitches outside the zone that you let go by add balls, and the fourth ball gives a walk. Three outs end the inning.
Swing at the right moment for singles, doubles or home runs. Runs are worth 100 points, hits 20 and home runs get a 50-point bonus. Your best score is saved in this browser. On the keyboard, Space swings and P pauses.

How do I time my swing?
The ball gets bigger as it gets closer to the plate. Swing when it is almost there: a little early or a little late still gives a foul or a strike, but only contact at the sweet spot makes a strong hit.
Why does a pitch outside the zone count as a ball?
Pitches outside the strike zone are not meant to be swung at. If you hold off, the umpire calls a ball, and four balls give a walk. Swinging at a pitch outside the zone usually ends in a strike or a weak hit.
