Online Color Blind Test
Can you spot the numbers hidden in the colored dot plates? This color blind test takes less than 2 minutes.
This test is only an indication and is not a substitute for an exam by an eye doctor.
How to take the color blind test
The test shows you 10 plates filled with colored dots. Each one hides a number drawn in dots of a different color, just like the Ishihara plates eye doctors use.
Type the number you see or tap “I don’t see a number.” For best results, use a well-lit room, turn your screen brightness all the way up and switch off any blue-light filter or night mode.
At the end you’ll see how many plates you got right. Missing several can be a sign of trouble telling red from green, the most common type of color blindness.
Frequently asked questions
Can this test diagnose color blindness?
No. Every screen displays color a little differently, so the result is only an indication. For a diagnosis, see an eye doctor (optometrist or ophthalmologist).
How common is color blindness?
Pretty common. About 8% of men and 0.5% of women have some degree of difficulty seeing red and green.
Why do the plates change every time?
The dots are generated on the spot, so the numbers and their positions change. That way nobody can memorize the answers.
