Go Fish Card Game Online
The classic Go Fish card game in your browser: ask the other players for cards, fish from the pond when they don’t have them, and collect the most books of four.
You play against 1 to 3 computer players. Ask for cards, go fish, and collect the most books of four!
How to play Go Fish
With 2 or 3 players everyone gets 7 cards; with 4 players it’s 5 cards each. The rest of the deck is spread out face down as the pond. Your goal is to collect books: all four cards of the same rank, like four 7s or four Kings.
On your turn, tap a card in your hand to pick its rank, then choose which player to ask. You can only ask for a rank you already hold. If they have any, they must hand over all of them and you go again. If not, they say “Go fish!” and you draw a card from the pond. Fish the very rank you asked for and you get another turn; otherwise play moves on.
A completed book is laid down right away. If your hand runs out, you draw a card from the pond on your turn. The game ends when all 13 books have been made, and the player with the most books wins.
Frequently asked questions
Are the computer players cheating?
No. They never see your hand. But like a sharp human player, they remember everything said at the table: if you asked for 9s, they know you have at least one, and they’ll come asking for it later. Use that against them, and keep track of what they ask for too.
What happens when the pond runs out?
If someone says “Go fish” and the pond is empty, nothing is drawn and the turn passes. Players with no cards left simply sit out, and the game goes on until every book is complete.
Are there other Go Fish rules?
Lots of families play slightly differently: some only hand over one card per ask, some make pairs instead of books of four, and some end the game as soon as one player runs out of cards. The rules here are the most common ones.
