Syllable games for kids
Syllable games for kids: build words by joining syllables and learn to split each word into parts, the way we say them out loud.
Read the clue and tap the syllables in the right order.
How to play with syllables
In Build the word, a clue appears, like “a place where we live”. Tap the syllables in the right order until the word is complete. If you pick the wrong one, no problem: just choose the next one.
In Split into syllables, the whole word is shown. Tap the gaps between the letters to mark where the word splits, then tap Check. Use Clear to start again.
Start on Easy, with two-syllable words. Then move up to Medium, with three syllables, and Hard, with four. At the end you see your stars and how many you got right on the first try.
Frequently asked questions
What age is best for these games?
Usually from 5 or 6 years old, when a child starts reading and noticing the parts of words. Younger children can play with a grown-up reading the clues aloud.
Does playing help kids learn syllables?
Yes. Building and splitting words into parts supports reading and spelling, because children discover that words are made of syllables. Playing again and again makes it stick.
Are there ads, sign-ups or data collection?
No. There are no ads, no account and nothing about your child is stored. The best score stays in the browser, and the sound can be switched off with its button.
