How to play Pyramid Solitaire

The goal is to clear all 28 cards from the pyramid. Cards are removed in pairs that add up to 13: an Ace counts as 1, number cards are worth their number, a Jack is 11 and a Queen is 12. A King is already 13, so it goes away on its own with a single tap.

Only uncovered cards can be played: a card is free when no card from the row below is overlapping it. Tap the first card (it gets highlighted) and then the second one to make a pair. Tapping the same card again cancels the selection.

When there’s no pair in the pyramid, tap the stock to flip a card onto the waste pile. The top card of the waste pile can also pair with a free card in the pyramid. You can go through the stock 3 times in total, and the counter shows which pass you’re on.

Frequently asked questions

Which pairs add up to 13 in Pyramid Solitaire?

Ace + Queen, 2 + Jack, 3 + 10, 4 + 9, 5 + 8 and 6 + 7. A King is worth 13 by itself, so just tap it to remove it.

Is every game of Pyramid winnable?

No. Pyramid is one of the hardest solitaire games and many deals can’t be solved. Think before you make each pair: sometimes it’s better to hold on to a card that can free up a whole row of the pyramid.

Can I take back a move?

Yes. The “Undo” button takes back your last move, including a card flipped from the stock. If there are no moves left, the game lets you know and shows how many cards are still in the pyramid.
