Rummy Online
Classic Rummy in your browser: draw, lay down sets and runs, add to any meld on the table and be the first to get rid of all your cards. Play against 1 or 3 computer opponents.
Choose how many computer opponents you want to play against. First to empty their hand wins the hand; first to 100 points wins the game!
How to play Rummy
With one opponent each player gets 10 cards; with three opponents everyone gets 7. The rest form the stock, and one card is turned up to start the discard pile. On your turn, draw the top card of the stock or the top card of the discard pile.
Then you can lay down melds: sets of 3 or 4 cards of the same rank (three 9s) or runs of 3 or more cards in the same suit (4-5-6 of spades). Aces are always low. You can also lay off cards on any meld on the table, yours or your opponents’. Tap cards to select them, then tap “Meld”, or tap a highlighted meld to lay off. End your turn by discarding one card.
The first player to get rid of every card wins the hand and scores the value of the cards left in the other players’ hands: face cards count 10, aces 1 and the rest their number. The first player to reach 100 points wins the game.
Frequently asked questions
Which version of Rummy is this?
It’s classic Rummy (sometimes called Basic or Straight Rummy) with a single 52-card deck and no jokers. You don’t need a minimum score for your first meld, aces are low only, and you can go out by melding, laying off or discarding your last card.
Can I take the top discard and throw it straight back?
No. A card you pick up from the discard pile has to stay in your hand until a later turn. Taking a discard also tells your opponents what you’re collecting, so use it wisely.
What happens when the stock runs out?
The discard pile, except its top card, is shuffled into a new stock, up to three times. If the stock runs out after that, the hand is blocked: the player with the lowest total in hand wins the difference from each opponent.
